While I’m sure nobody over the age of 14 cares, Nintendo’s failed social network experiment is dying a death on November 8th.
The writing was on the wall, the Switch doesn’t have any Miiverse functionality what so ever and the 3DS version sort of limps along. For those who don’t know, Miiverse is a social network that was built by Nintendo to use on their consoles. As a way to share tips, screen grabs and comments about all their games on the platform. However, this wasn’t the case in the end. Imagine if the weird side of Deviant Art met Twitter, that is what Miiverse became.
I’m going to be very real here, Miiverse was never good was it. If you think Miiverse was a good thing because of the insanely detailed and intricate artworks people could produce, that is because the Gamepad is shit for drawing on. There are good artists everywhere, Miiverse just crippled them by only allowing one colour and being incredibly hard to work with.
Between the artworks you would see posted (and to be fair the better ones made their way to reddit anyway) would be cringe inducing posts. People asking for gf was a common sight on Miiverse, as well as posting
sexy strange things about Nintendo characters. Luckily for you, I have collated some of these posts as a goodbye to the monstrosity that is Miiverse. Enjoy!
If you’d like to see more great posts like this, just google “Miiverse” as these posts made up the vast majority of the content available there.
Wii U Chat (?) and TVii (which never came to EU, the TVii button never did anything) are also being shut down.
