Nintendo has announced a New 3DS XL SNES Edition exclusively for Europe, releasing on October 13th.
Nintendo is capitalising on the demand for its retro products (namely the SNES Classic Mini) by releasing an agonisingly beautiful New 3DS XL SNES Edition – and it’s exclusively for Europe.
It follows the release of the Super Famicon 3DS XL last year in Japan. At the time Nintendo had denied any plans to release the console outside of Japan, so if you don’t live in Europe there’s every possibility that you will be able to get your hands on the New 3DS XL SNES Edition…at some point. As always with Nintendo, it’s impossible to predict what they’re going to do next.
The New 3DS XL SNES Edition is designed to capture all of the simple beauty of the original. The inside of the console resembles a SNES controller (including the coloured face buttons) whilst the shell features the console buttons. Make no mistake, it’s a gorgeous piece of kit – although following hot on the heels of the New 2DS XL, there are now a lot of 3DS models on the market and very few major new releases to play on them.
The New 3DS XL SNES Edition is released on October 13th 2017. Meanwhile the SNES Classic Mini will arrive on the 29th September 2017 priced at £69.99 – and despite Nintendo‘s reassurances that there would be plenty of stock heading to retailers, it’s still near impossible to place a pre-order.
