Baffling Japanese gangster brawler series, Yakuza, will get a new worldwide release on PS4 in early 2018.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life – will be released worldwide on 20 March 2018, according to Sega America.
The game was released in late 2016 for Japanese gamers but the rest of the world was previously unsure when we would get a chance to play. Following the game’s trailer reveal at E3, we now have a new gameplay trailer which shows off the upcoming title, and I’m super excited for it!
The game is the first developed from the ground up for the PS4. While being brought over for western audiences, the game will still feature fully-voiced Japanese dialogue, which should help to maintain the immersion in this bizarre and violent soap opera.
More Yakuza coming even sooner
If early 2018 is too long for you to wait for another slice of Yakuza action – worry not! Yakuza Kiwami is being released on PS4 later this month, 29 August 2017.
The game is a remaster of the original PS2 Yakuza game, has been rebuilt in the current-gen game engine. I never played the original Yakuza, so this opportunity to revisit the origins of the series is great news to me.
The game’s story trailer outlines about a dozen different threads to the tale which you will get to explore, including a small child who needs protection, a boss murdered by your friend, and plenty of angry-looking men with moustaches.
The new games follow the frankly brilliant Yakuza Zero which was brought out on PS4 earlier this year. Yakuza Zero featured some of the best hostess management and dolly dress-up action in any game in recent memory:
