Mass Effect: Andromeda releases this week. I’m sure if you keep somewhat up to date with gaming news that you’ve heard about ME:A‘s…animation wonkiness. Hopefully the story is up to scratch but frankly early impressions of this aren’t too glowing either. For some time I had been afraid of this game being rushed out the door, and fear this may be the case. The lack of footage until recently and the all too brief chatter from Bioware over the last coupe of years were worrying signs. Couple that with a new dev team at the helm and the project doesn’t seem the easy slam dunk a fresh Mass Effect story could have been.

Though I hope I am proven wrong. Really, I do. I adore the franchise and can look past animation woes if there is a great sci fi tale at the heart of the game. The combat itself seems a great evolution over the previous games and the multiplayer co op looks to be a pleasant diversion to play with a few mates.

Now let’s look at a Nintendo handheld effort. It’s not for the Switch however but for that other Nintendo system, the trusty old 3DS. Called Mario Sports Superstars it is simply a small compilation of sports modes all bundled together. It has a rather subpar 65 on Metacritic, which is a shame because a handful of accessible pick and play arcadey sports with some Mario sparkle would be great. Oh well maybe at the right price it could be a giggle, in the mean time check out a trailer.
