I can’t really see how they are going to pull this off, will it be a super camp, comedy horror or a serious, dark and violent affair. They should probably license Whip It as the theme song either way.
The Netflix Original Series are generally pretty good, I am watching Daredevil at the moment which is great. I’ve also watched Luke Cage, Better Call Saul and a bit of Narcos, they are all very well made and Netflix are building quite the roster of shows for themselves. I don’t know if a 30 year old game franchise about walking up stairs and whipping monsters would make a good TV show though…
The Castlevania Netflix show is being made by Frederator Studios, the same guys who made Adventure Time among other things. So far so good, Netflix plus a good studio can only mean good things? Well we hope so, because that is all the information we have. I do have some quotes though, the first is from Frederator owner Fred Seibert from last year on an episode of an animation podcast:
We have a project right now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started. But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.
Then he was outed on Facebook anyway, by Adi Shankar
Breaking News: I’m producing a super violent Castlevania mini-series with my homies Fred Seibert and Kevin Klonde. It’s going to be dark, satirical, and after a decade of propaganda it will flip the vampire sub-genre on its head.
Looks like it might be both horror comedy and ultra violent, when we have more news we will update ya!
